Create your workspace
There is no sign-up. A new install starts with just you: no sign-in until you want to work with others.
Start
- Open http://localhost:3000 on the computer running OKR.ai.
- Enter your name and role (and, optionally, your responsibilities: AI uses them to size your OKRs).
- Choose Start. You’re on the canvas as the workspace admin.
With no sign-in, OKR.ai only opens on this computer. It refuses requests from other machines and through proxies.
Build the org
Use the + under your node to add reports with a name, role and optional job description. The role and description help AI split OKRs sensibly later.
To add many people at once, open Team import in the left rail and upload a CSV. See Team import.
Add your first OKR
- Click your node and open My OKRs.
- Choose Add OKR and write the objective.
- AI drafts key results. Edit, remove or add your own, then save.
- Click Acknowledge in the banner. Your drafts become active.
Bring in your team
Click Collaborate at the top right. It lists what a team shares and gives you two routes.
Self-host, step by step:
- Your email: you’ll sign in with it.
- Team database: Postgres (Supabase, Neon, RDS, CockroachDB, your own), MySQL / PlanetScale, or libSQL / Turso, somewhere every teammate’s computer can reach. Your people, OKRs and settings are copied there.
- Sign-in methods: an email service for codes, Google, and identity providers. See Sign-in & SSO.
- AI model (optional): a key you add is used for everyone.
- Turn on team sign-in. You get a join code.
Teammates install OKR.ai, choose Join my team on the first screen (or run npx okr-ai join <code>) and sign in. People you already added land in their place on the chart. Anyone else waits under Waiting to be placed in the panel until you pick their manager.
The join code contains the team database’s password and the key that encrypts your settings. Share it like a password, only with your team. To cut someone off, change the database password and share a new code.
OKR.ai Cloud (private preview): we host sign-in, the database and AI for you. Request access from the same panel.
